PWU World Heavyweight Championship to be Unified!

Now that Pro Wrestling Uprising has officially closed its doors, there is only one item of business left. What will become of the PWU World Heavyweight Championship, held by "Cast Iron" Cothern since last December? The answer: It will be defended in a Unification Match with the IWL World Championship. Current IWL Champion Doom will face Cothern on July 19th at the AWS Arena in City of Industry to see which of them will become the first IWL Unified World Champion. The following comes from www.iwlwrestling.com...

Justice for BRAWL! 09'
Yes INSANE fans! Our next event is the 2nd annual Justice for BRAWL! event, which will
be headlined by "Cast Iron" Cothern vs. Doom to unify the PWU and IWL Heavyweight
championships. It seems like Mr. Jimmy Quinn is getting his way after all, and I am sure
Vic doesnt like it.
But nonetheless, the event will be taking place July 19, 2009 at the AWS Arena! Yes
thats right, the IWL returns to the AWS arena in City of Industry. More news on the show
coming soon so make sure to keep checking back here at IWLWRESTLING.COM to get
all your Justice for BRAWL! news and info.

IWL News and Tidbits with The Scoopster!
Greetings INSANE fans! The Scoopster is here to deliver...what else? THE SCOOP!

-If you've been wondering why there hasn't been too many updates in the last month, you
are not alone. The Scoopster had a chance to speak to Vic to ask him what the deal was.
Vic replied "Well with everything going on in the last month or two, it really started to take
a toll. I needed to step back a bit and find my inner peace, and relax to regain..just a little
bit of my sanity!" But that doesn't he's been sitting on his ass doing nothing. Vic adds "I
had an un-welcome meeting with Jimmy Quinn recently which Scotty shot and should be
uploading soon, and DC recently came into my office to discuss the state of IWL. The
producers of I-TV recently informed me of a recently shot show too, so all these things
should be done and ready to be seen by the world soon. Even when I'm relaxing, work is
still going on! So screw all you assholes who call me a lazy s.o.b.!" Of course our
beloved owner calls our INSANE fans "s.o.b.s" with nothing but love in his heart!

-Amos Da Strangla recently quit the IWL after knocking out Vic in an undisclosed
location, which can be seen on YouTube. Amos, who had been with the IWL since 2003,
felt Vic has been behind some of the recent attacks from Justin Ryke. He also felt that Vic
knew about the formation of the "5th Ryke" before they even formed. Not feeling
comfortable working in a company where he can't even trust his own boss, Amos quit.
Now, he and Vic haven't talked since the incident and I've had a hard time getting a hold
of Amos. Vic refuses to comment on the situation, only saying "Everyone saw the video,
everyone saw what he did. There you go!" Will Amos Da Strangla ever return to the IWL?
Or is he officially done with the company? I'm sure something will develop from this story
in the weeks to come.

-KC "Arc Angel" Jones may be flying high again soon in the IWL! His injuries are healing
up nicely and he looks like his return may be sooner than later. Of course, a certain man
named Chris Evans could care less, as he showed everyone at Sicko Sircus. At the
show, KC came out to address the crowd about his injury when Chris Evans entered the
ring to taunt the injured IWL star. He called KC a joke, and referred to himself as the best
wrestler IWL has to offer. It doesn't help that Evans was recently told by an NWA
representative that "he is 'NWA' now!" which just added to the cockiness that Evans
posseses. I'm sure once KC's injuries heal up, he will want to get his hands on Evans
for disrespecting him the way he did, and show Evans that he is not a joke, but the
"SoCal Special Attraction."

-Justin Ryke was suspended recently from knocking out our boss as well, which could
also be seen on YouTube. His partner, Nameless, was not too pleased with the
suspension and protested Sicko Sircus as a result, which explains his absence from the
show. Nameless refused to give a comment to this reporter. Whats going to happen now
that BOTH of our IWL Tag Team Champions are away from the IWL? I'm sure some
news will develop soon.

-Speaking of Ryke, I'm sure he is sitting home feeling proud that one of his boys from the
5th Ryke is now number 1 contender to the IWL Championship. Another person who
must be happy? Jimmy Quinn, because now Vic cannot back out of the upcoming title
unification match between IWL Champion Doom, and PWU Champion "Cast Iron"
Cothern. Now with Quinn, and Ryke, and the rest of the 5th Ryke, in a position of power
once again, what will become of the IWL ?

-An interview with Malachi Jackson can be found in the official IWL Street Team site at
http://iwlstreetteam.ning.com/! Make sure you check out the interview along with the rest
of the Street Team website. You can create a profile, upload pictures, videos, read
interviews, and get all the latest IWL news! Plus, you could chat with fellow IWL or SoCal
indy fans. Check it out, create a profile, and go INSANE!

-Finally, make sure you follow our Twitter Page. Sometimes news appears on it even
before it appears on this website! So become an INSANE TWIT and...shake them
TWITTIES our way...yep, our boss made me say that. Here is the link

END OF AN ERA...

La Habra Heights, CA. - At IWL's "New Era 4" on Saturday, April 11th, PWU Owner Jimmy Quinn entered the ring to make a momentous announcement.

"New Era 4 is the beginning of a new era for IWL, but unfortunately it is also the end of an era for Pro Wrestling Uprising," Quinn said to the crowd. "Effective immediately, PWU is officially closing its doors."

Mr. Quinn thanked the audience and the wrestlers for two and a half years of good memories and for working so many benefit and charity shows.

As PWU World Champion Cast Iron Cothern was about to retire the belt to Quinn, Quinn stopped him and called out IWL Owner "Slic" Vic Luna. Luna came to the ring, at which time, Quinn said "I never wanted my company to go out like this. I didn't want to go out with a whimper. I wanted to go out with a bang. I don't want the legacy of this title and everything I have worked for to just disappear. I propose a title unification match between PWU World Champion Cast Iron Cothern and the IWL World Heavyweight Champion."

Vic Luna has accepted the challenge and a World Heavyweight Championship Unification Match will be seen at an upcoming IWL Show.

Pro Wrestling Uprising is officially closing. The company started on December 10, 2006 and officially ended on April 11, 2009. The PWU World Championship was defended in numerous promotions in California and also took a tour of the Midwest this year as Cothern took it through a few Oklahoma promotions.

The PWU websites and myspaces will close soon, although there may be a page that stays open as a historical record of PWU and HDCW footage. PWU and HDCW DVDs will still be found for sale at some Southern California shows, and there are plans for a retrospective DVD to come out later this year.

We would like to thank all the fans and wrestlers who supported and fought for Pro Wrestling Uprising.

Mr. Quinn says that although PWU is dead, he is not finished with the professional wrestling business.

April Fool’s Prank Angers Dozens!

Palmdale, CA. - Earlier this morning, an announcement was posted on the Pro Wrestling Uprising website announcing the death of PWU Owner Jimmy Quinn. Our phone lines and emails were almost immediately swarmed by well-wishers, including fans, wrestlers and other promoters. For those that may not have noticed the date at the top of the post, it’s April 1st, April Fool’s Day.

We were going to keep up the prank until late this evening, but the actual confusion that has spread from this has legitimately hurt some feelings, so we are retracting the post effective immediately.

We at Pro Wrestling Uprising apologize for any hurt feelings or emotional trauma this may have caused. There are times when harmless fun crosses the line and is no longer harmless. This is one of those times. In the spirit of the day, as the prankee gets too upset, we must jump forth and shout “April Fool’s!”

Let’s put this all behind us, chalk it up to bad ideas and move forward. We hope you will still support us as we expand.

Thank You,
Pro Wrestling Uprising

Top Contender Refuses Title Shot.

From www.iwlwrestling.com.

Justin Ryke News

I, the Scoopster, have just gotten word that Ryke has turned down a PWU Championship title shot, currently held by "Cast Iron" Cothern. Ryke? Turning down a World Title shot?

Pro Wrestling Uprising, the recently revamped promotion formerly known as High Desert Championship Wrestling, have a website which has the listings of the top 5 contenders for their world title. Ryke, the former #1 contender, turned down the shot much to the surprise of PWU owner Jimmy Quinn.

Why would Ryke turn down the chance to hold World Title gold? Is he afraid of "Cast Iron" Cothern? These two men have never faced before, perhaps Ryke feels he has met his match? I actually called Ryke to see what he had to say on the situation. All he said was "I'm not gold hungry like other people I know..."

Whatever the reason, this reporter suspects Ryke has to have something up his sleeve.

But never one to be out of the spotlight for too long, Justin Ryke has posted up this creepy self promotional video. See for yourself the weirdness that is Justin Ryke.

PWU World Champion's Home Vandalized!

Tulsa, OK. - "Cast Iron" Cothern, PWU World Heavyweight Champion, returned home after a match last weekend to discover that his apartment had been flooded. Many of Mr. Cothern's personal belongings were damaged or lost in the deluge. Local Tulsa authorities have determined that the damage was not caused by an accident or by faulty piping.

"It appears that this incident was willfully caused by a person or persons with malicious intent towards the victim," said Tulsa Police Chief Ronald Palmer.

"It's pretty unlivable in there," said Cothern, "Water is coming out of the smoke detectors, the light switches, everything."

Tulsa police are conducting a full investigation into the incident, although there are currently no suspects.

"I have a lot of enemies here," Cothern said.

Below are some photos of Cothern's apartment.

PWU Championship Match

Muskogee, OK. - On January 3rd, PWU World Heavyweight Champion "Cast Iron" Cothern defended his title against The Canadian Red Devil. This was the first time the Pro Wrestling Uprising World Championship was defended outside of California. The following video shows some of the highlights, ending with Cothern pinning the Canadian Red Devil. There was more action, and the Devil pinned Cothern for the Tornado Alley Pro Championship later in the match. When we get the full video, we will bring it to you here at PWUOnline. Until then, enjoy the highlights.

A Blast From The Past - August, 2008

While we await the footage from recent PWU matches, let's look back at a great match in our history. This is Markus Riot's first HDCW Title defense at the Insane Wrestling League. Accompanying him was then-manager Jeff Meacham. Scorpio Sky is a long-time Southern California fan favorite, seen in EWF, PWG and even the short-lived Wrestling Society X on MTV with Markus Riot.

The Latest News...

Palmdale, CA. - Last month "Cast Iron" Cothern defeated Simon Lotto to win the vacant Pro Wrestling Uprising World Heavyweight Championship. He soon went on the road and is currently defending the strap in his home state of Oklahoma. When he returns to Southern California in March, if he is still the champion, he will have an entirely new task ahead of him. Numerous challenges have been thrown down, and Cothern will have his hands full if he wants to hold on to the PWU World Championship.

"Big Nasty" Jason Watts - Recently won and unified the splintered EPIC WAR Championship. Currently holds numerous titles in SoCal, including the XZW Championship. The 2007 SoCalUncensored Rookie of the Year wants to have a breakthrough in 2009 and he sees the PWU World Title as a step in the right direction.

Justin Ryke - The controversial rulebreaker lost the IWL title in December. Since then, he has announced his intentions of winning the PWU World Championship. He is currently the number one contender to the title. He can be a tad...unbalanced... and he is always unpredictable. Cothern needs to keep his eye on this one.

Simon Lotto - Feels that Cothern cheated in the PWU World Championship match and has demended a rematch. The tape is being reviewed by PWU officials and a ruling will be made shortly. The referee's decision is final, but the PWU Championship Committee may rule that Cothern must defend the title in a rematch with Lotto.

As if that isn't enough, wrestlers from around the world are challenging for the strap. We have received calls and emails from promoters in Oklahoma, Texas, Tennessee, Mexico and Canada. The Pro Wrestling Uprising World Title is quickly becoming one of the most prestigious belts in independent wrestling today.

If you are running a wrestling event and want to "Join The Uprising," or if you are a member of the media wishing to speak with us, please email Travis Leland, PWU's Director of Public Relations with information about your event at prowrestlinguprising@yahoo.com.

Also, since the brand change, the HDCW Myspace is somewhat...obsolete.We have started our new one at www. myspace. com/pwuallstars.Add us as a friend.

Tulsa, OK. - PWU World Heavyweight Champion “Cast Iron” Cothern is not popular with Oklahoma wrestling fans. In fact, “The Mucker” is pretty much despised over in Sooner Land. After his January 10th title defense in the 3-Way Dance with Shane Morbid and Eric Fantabulous, CM Burnham wrote the following review of the match in his “Ringside Review” column.

“Cast-Iron Cothern and Shane Morbid got a little taste of what it would be like to be in the ring against each other when they were part of a triple threat match against Eric Fantabulous. Fantabuilous was far from it, Cothern looked like a beached whale (in other words, normal) and Shane Morbid beat the crap out of both of them, but wasn't able to pull out the win. He did, however, cause some dental damage to Cothern, which is good. Maybe next time there can be some brain damage included. Well, some MORE brain damage as Cothern and Boss are already deficient in that area, obviously.”

It seems that “The Gentleman Thug” has a lot to overcome if he wants his title reign to last. He can’t let these kinds of reports to get to him as he gears up for his upcoming matches against Shane Morbid, Justin Ryke and EPIC WAR Champion “Big Nasty” Jason Watts.
